Initial Images

Dancing Shot

For my first initial image, I drew some girls dancing in the forest in a circle, spinning around. I wanted to get across the ritualistic aspect of the film, with the women wearing long dresses, either white of black, to convey a witchy aura. The setting is in a forest, as I wanted to also incorporate the aspect of nature into my initial thoughts, and the connection with mother nature. For this shot, I'd like to choregraph a set sequence to fit with the pre-chorus of the music, with the spinning increasing with intensity as the song progresses. I'd also like to re-use this shot but in slow motion, perhaps at the beginning of the song, with quick cuts to a contradicting shot incorporating fire. Whilst I' d also like to use tracking shots in this scene, I think some ECU shots and some extreme zooms into the faces of the dancers would add interest and make it more personal by seeing their faces. Therefore, make up would be important for this, so heavy eyeshadow and dark eyeliner would add a scary, fearful tone to the shot.

Moonlight on Water

For my second initial image, I wanted to use the idea of natural light and using the symbol of the moon to represent female identity. I also wanted to use noir lighting and heavy silhouettes to create a foreboding image. For this shot, I'd like for the actor to walk slowly into the water, and then when they get halfway to put their hands up to the sky. I could track them from behind, but the camera might be quite shaky due to the waves and swell of the water. They would walk right in the moonlight path as well to connote them walking into "heaven" or some kind of guided spirit. Lighting might be hard as I'd have to film at night on the beach, so I may have to edit the brightness on Premier Pro or use a torch to supply a strong key light.
